Monthly Membership Meetings
These meetings are the heart and soul of MAREI. Every month you have the opportunity to attend a monthly meeting, network with your fellow Investors and our Business Associates . . . plus . . . have an opportunity to present to the membership properties you have for sale and hear a guest speaker. There is ample time set aside for networking. Many of our Business Associates elect to participate in a “trade show” like forum and host a table. This makes it easy for you to identify the business and experts you need to discuss your issues with and craft a solution. The structured networking session concludes with members presenting their property they have for sale to the entire membership. The general session includes a guest speaker that is an expert in a specific area of real estate investing. There is no other organization in Kansas City Metro that brings individuals and organizations interested in investing in real estate together with the business community that supports them and this happens every month! Create your network and support group that will help make you successful!
Education Classes and Seminars
Increasing your knowledge and improving your skills will make you a more successful investor. We are currently updating our educational offerings to include: several live training days with a national trainer throughout the year, several live training workshops with local trainers, and the new offerings of online workshops. Topics include foreclosure, short sales, tax liens, probate, 1031 property exchange and more. Many additional courses will be added.
To assist our members with building their team and forming their network, MAREI has a Business Associate membership for business that offer services and products that real estate investors need. Business Associates are invited to join MAREI based on member referral and satisfactory completion of our evaluation process. Many of our Business Associates and vendors offer discounts or special offers to MAREI members. Our Business Associates are available to our members 24 hours a day through the Services Section online and are often in attendance at monthly general meetings making it easy for our members to build their network. MAREI Business Associates represent many critical areas for the real estate investor including lending, tile insurance, and real estate services. We will continue to add many more Business Associates in the future.
Several local and national companies offer services or products to our members at significant discounts. Products and services from these companies include a 2% rebate on all Home Depot items purchased at their retail stores, 11000 items from Home Depot’s Supply on-line catalog, office supplies from Office Max, shipping discounts through Fed Ex from Partner Ship, AVIS rental cars and much more.
MAREI has not reached the budget to hire a local lobbyist to represent the needs of real estate investors in the legislative and executive branches at our state capitol. But our Government Affairs Committee forms a watch-dog group to keep an eye on local and National legislations and report to the membership. Our desire is to understand issues or potential legislation that may affect real estate investing and communicate that information to our members. We plan for our collective voices to be heard on issue that affect our members.
Members receive discounts from local and national businesses. These discounts reduce your cost and increase your margins on your investments. Specifics of each discount are limited to members and requires an MAREI Membership Number to receive the discount. MAREI’s Investment News is our newsletter that is published monthly and contains tips on investing, topical articles from experts on subjects important to you, updates on legislation affecting the real estate investor, and other important information. Between publications we also keep our members informed with our E-Updates.
MAREI’s online library contains over 100 ebooks, articles, audio files, forms and documents. It is growing each month as we receive more sharable digital information. This is a great way to supplement your education from home on your own schedule.
MAREI will involve the association, its members and the broader real estate investing community in worth while community programs or projects that: 1) Delivers a valuable service to the community, 2) Creates a “sense of community” within the MAREI, 3) Provides value to our members that participate, and 4) Promotes MAREI’s positive vision and mission. Currently MAREI is supporting Harvesters Foodbank that provides a helping hand to tens of thousands of people in need every week and MAREI members provided 18,000 meals in July 2014.
Members have the opportunity to volunteer in a specific area of interest to a subset of the membership or the entire membership. Volunteer opportunities include helping at the monthly meeting or in the office, facilitating a subgroup, providing education to the members, government affairs committee, or community affairs committee. One of the best ways to get ahead is to get involved and our volunteer programs are one of the best ways.
