If you've been in business for any length of time as a real estate investor you will either hear about or take part in a fire sale of properties when a fellow real estate investor passed away or was affected by a catastrophic illness.  Their empire was running like a top and then bam, it crumbles fast because there is no one in place to manage it, fights among the people left behind, taxes, and basic government that takes over when there is no plan set up. As the empire crumbles, the value of all that real estate (or the business) spirals and gets sold off for pennies.

Scary topic yes.  One we all need to think about and review every few years, yes.  To help us, we have invited Casey Connealy with Gaughan & Connealy to join us at the March meeting.  He specializes in estate plans for specific professions and situations, and with all the tangible assets of real estate, we think our industry might need a well-crafted, specific plan.  He is joining us to make sure we know what we are up against and some of the tools we should put into place.  He will help us ask OURSELVES a few questions because many times we build the empire, we craft the plan, and then we fail to implement a few key aspects . . .join us to develop or review your plan.
