Landlords of Johnson County

with... Landlords of Johnson County

The Landlords of Johnson County, Kansas have a membership meeting on the first Wednesday of every month except July and January

Please visit their website for complete details about their meeting,
their membership and to register:  http://www.landlordsofjohnsoncounty.org/

After taking the month of July off for some rest and relaxation it's time to get back to meetings. While some of you still may be out of town or not quite back in the swing of things after summer we wanted to put on a great meeting for everyone. We will hear from 2 of our very own board members.

We are also going to change our meeting format. We are going to take the first 15-30 minutes to network with each other and meet new people. Then we will get the formal presentation started around 6:30. After about an hour we will wrap up the presentation and open the floor for round table discussions and more networking. This is in response to those who helped us by filling out the survey and letting us know that you liked having speakers but the majority felt that we could shorten the presentations and allow more time to meet each other and ask our general questions or share things that are going on with our businesses. You might see a few other changes here and there as we try to make this group the best group in KC. We will still stream the meeting live on Zoom and record the meetings to be posted to our webpage. Please allow some grace as none of us are tech experts and we are at the mercy of the wifi within Matt Ross.

The meeting lineup:
LJC President Brendon Pishny will share the 4 common ways that rental properties make money. If you can name all 4 then you're already way ahead of the game. If not then come find out which of those 4 you're missing.

Brendon is a licensed real estate agent that has owned and managed rental properties for over 9 years. During this time he has completed several flip projects by overseeing the rehabs from start to finish. He has purchased and sold many homes during his career, and currently has 14 rental properties in the Johnson County area. He has extensive knowledge of the construction and rehab process and the costs associated with renovating a house. He has been on the board for Landlords of Johnson County for the past 6 years, currently serving as the organization’s president. Brendon is married to his wife of 19 years, Shannon, and has 3 kids, Azaria, Tanyon and Kabreya. He loves real estate because of the flexibility it provides which helps him keep a family life and work balance.

Betty Simmon is the current Vice President of LJC. She will share how she runs her property management company properly and how we can make changes to help us do the same.

Betty has been a member of the Landlords of Johnson County for 7 years and has been a board member for the past 5 years.  She has also been an active member of the Olathe Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years and enjoys networking with all of the members.

Betty got her real estate license in 2003 while working for a local rental company. She realized that the broker wouldn’t assist their investors in buying properties and that they were missing a big part of the process. Betty joined RE/MAX in 2005 and has been selling real estate and hasn’t looked back. The Betty Simmons Team ranked in the top 7% of 12,000 KC Metro real estate agents in 2021 and has sold over $80 million dollars of real estate while overseeing the growth of Rental Home KC.

Betty is celebrating her 17th year with RE/MAX, and she has received the Five Star Real Estate Agent for 14 years, nominated by her clients.

Betty started Rental Home KC from the ground floor with two homes and developed the business into a full-service home leasing company.  She witnessed the sales market decline in 2008/2009 and decided to focus on foreclosures and bank-owned properties to assist investors while the market was down.

RHKC has successfully leased more than 1000 homes while she continued selling full-time. Betty has created a very successful niche blending her buyers, sellers, and investors. She specializes in Johnson County, Kansas real estate, having lived in the area for over 38 years.

Betty has grown into the BettySimmonsTeam, as well as, growing her RHKC team to streamline the entire process. They can identify a property, determine the cost of repairs, oversee the rehab, determine the future rental value, and then lease and manage the property after close!
