We will begin the meeting shortly after 6 pm in our normal spot. Come early to chat with others, grab some refreshments and find your seat.

This month we will be hearing from Attorney Spence Stover. He will give us an update on how evictions are going in Johnson County now that the moratoriums are completely lifted. He will review the correct process for uncollected rent payments or other reasons to start the eviction process. Spence would also like to share some new statutes in regard to victims of domestic violence. I've also asked him to address emotional support animals and any other related topics he thinks would be good. Since we are trying a new format for the meetings including more discussion opportunities we will have plenty of time for questions and networking. Last month we filled the house. Let's keep that momentum going. See you there!!

Spence Stover is a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri, Kansas City and being licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas. Mr. Stover has specialized in commercial litigation and transactional law for 15 years.  Spence has represented landlords and secured creditors in state and bankruptcy court recovering possession of and title to assets as well as obtaining monetary judgments for balances due.  Further, Spence assists clients in every aspect of preparing for and executing transactions, including preparation of residential and commercial lease agreements, drafting commercial lending agreements and security instruments, drafting organizational operating agreements and transfers of membership interests, completing bills of sale, assignments of interest, contracts for deed, leases with option to purchase, etc.  The areas of commercial litigation in which Spence represents clients include replevin actions to recover vehicles, foreclosure of real estate, lawsuits to recover deficiency balances, lawsuits to recover sums due on credit cards as well as other types of unsecured loans, lawsuits on behalf of landlords to recover rent and possession of the leased property, and disposition of abandoned and remaining personal items following recovery of assets.  Additionally, Spence has extensive experience helping clients obtain clear titles to real estate.

We'll also give Kim Tucker the floor for a few minutes. Kim and her husband, Don, started MAREI (Mid-America Association of Real Estate Investors) in 2004. Since then they have grown the group to the largest Real Estate Association in Kansas City. The group focuses on all types of RE investing and offers many benefits to its members. Kim will share ways that MAREI can benefit members of LJC and how to join. I promise this is something you need to know about.

Come early and stay late. It's going to be a great time!!
