Joe Blackshere is a Kansas City based real estate investor who slowly and methodically built a multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio with his wife and partner Michelle and the help of his three children.
From very humble beginnings raised by a single mother, Joe experienced housing insecurities living in unfinished basements, rent controlled housing, and at one point *homelessness.
Joe values living a life of significance over success demonstrated by his partnership with local organizations like Hillcrest Ministries, church small groups, Division of Family Services, Rose Brooks Domestic Abuse Center, and the Kansas City Housing Authority. Through these organizations, the family business Signal Home Solutions, and his servant heart approach to being a housing provider, he serves housing residents with dignity, compassion, understanding, and second chances fueled by faith.
Joe hopes to inspire you by sharing an otherwise very private backstory that includes being held at gunpoint and beaten his final weeks of high school, suffering from PTSD, anxiety, and depression and being on full disability just months after graduating college at the top of his class in his field of study.
Late 2020, Joe learned he had heart failure, just a few years after his 64-year-old dad died of a heart attack in his work truck on a job site. After 16 hours of open-heart surgery, in and out and back in, and back in, Joe spent twelve days in the hospital, seven of them in the ICU. Facing a long recovery, and his own mortality, he realized that he needed a Plan B. One that could help take care of his family long after he is gone. A plan that could afford him to retire early (after all, his wife as a teacher can retire at 52, so no way does he want to work to age 65 where he can access retirement benefits without heavy penalties!)
Through the knock downs, rehab, and setbacks Joe went from “why me”? to “why not me”? If you can look up, you can get up. The bigger the setback, the greater the comeback.
Today, Joe and family, along with his shadow and best friend, Chester the golden doodle, are living their best life in their dream home at a lake house in Lees Summit.
Joe is a licensed real estate professional and agent, an Airbnb Super-Host, and a Certified Professional Landlord.
At this event you will hear his Plan B that includes how they got started with no savings, a portfolio walk through, multiple acquisition strategies deployed, investing wins and “failures”/opportunities for learning, as well as life lessons that transcend across any industry.
You will not want to miss this presentation that speaks to action the “Average Joe” mentality and limiting mind sets. Heroes are really just ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Wake up every morning, choose to be Hulk and smash your day (you will have to attend to hear that story 😊).
Do not limit your challenges, challenge your limits.
